May 19, 2007 - UMCH held its 2nd annual Spring Celebration to recognize the accomplishments of the youth in the Residential & Transitional Living Programs and Quest School. Families & friends joined the youth & staff for an afternoon of celebration. Several of the students in Quest School shared their talents with the audience, that included singing, magic tricks & drama performances. Every youth received recognition for their achievements with focus on academics and progress in treatment.
Alexis, a former resident of UMCH, was the guest speaker. Alexis shared some of the challenges she has faced since leaving UMCH and how she was able to address her problems. Alexis offered encouragement to other residents & cited more examples of how she has been able to apply her new skills as she is venturing into independence as a young adult. The staff at UMCH was very proud to see the achievements Alexis has made and was grateful that she was willing to share her story with others.
The afternoon ended with a BBQ picnic under a big tent and the youth were able to enjoy fellowship time with their families & friends.
