United Methodist Children’s Home employee Tyrone Harris was voted by his co-workers as the Shining Star for 2007. Tyrone was one of 10 employees that had been recognized during the year for going “above and beyond” job duties to provide quality service. Tyrone’s winning nomination stated:
“Tyrone was instrumental in helping a youth enlist in the Marines. Tyrone mentored and encouraged this youth and the youth was more motivated than he had ever been. The youth expressed if it wasn't for Tyrone investing in their relationship he would not have made the positive life decision to join the Marines.”
Tyrone is a Mental Health Specialist in the Transitional Living Program. He is pictured receiving his award from UMCH CEO/ President Clete Winkelmann. Tyrone also received $250.
