UMCH Community Connections Dedication
The United Methodist Children’s Home held a ribbon cutting and dedication for their new Community Connections building on Friday, November 14th. UMCH CEO / President Clete Winkelmann and Reverend David Eadie from the 1st United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon conducted the dedication which included a reading from Psalm 24 and the consecration of the new facility. Winkelmann referred to Mathew 28:18-20 and shared that Jesus wanted his disciples to go out to those around them and make connections. The new facility enhances the UMCH mission to minister to the needs of children, families and the community.
The Community Connections office is located at 201 North 27th Street in Mt. Vernon. This facility will house several of the UMCH community based programs including: Nurse Family Partnership / Best Beginnings, Family Centered Services, Adoptions and Professional Foster Care. These programs are serving upwards of 200 children and families throughout Southern Illinois. UMCH continues to also operate services from their main campus at 2023 Richview Road in Mt. Vernon.
