Farewell
by Clete Winkelmann
former President / CEO
Since our last newsletter many changes have occurred with UMCH and me. In March I accepted a position with the Children’s Home Association of Illinois in Peoria. This move was completely unexpected and unplanned. In many ways this decision was very difficult, but in many ways it was an easy decision. Peoria is my hometown and being closer to my parents and family is something that I have desired for many years. Additionally, the Children’s Home in Peoria is a great professional opportunity for me. It is a larger agency and offers many professional opportunities for me to advance my career.
I am very proud of our accomplishments at UMCH. I must give a great deal of credit to the Board of Directors, both the governing and foundation board for their support and confidence in me during my tenure. They have been a tremendous support for me and I will never forget what they have done for the agency and me.
I must also give a credit where credit is due. My leadership team consisting of Joe Bernard, Tim Waugh, Kay Zibby, Michelle Bradley and the recently retired Peggy Hester have been the power behind our mission and growth. While I have consistently been given credit for the advances of UMCH, they are equally responsible for all of the success. I am very proud of them and know they will continue to carry the mission and ministry of the agency into the future. Also know that the board is working hard to find the next leader of the agency and I can assure you that they will select the best candidate to take the agency into the future.
I appreciate each and every one of you who have made my tenure so enjoyable. I have had several occasions second guessing my decision, but know in time my decision is what is best for myself and my family.
May God bless each one of you and your families and know that I will never forget my experiences in Mount Vernon. I will always cherish UMCH!
For the Kids,
Clete
