Foster Parent of the Year

The month of May is Foster Parent Appreciation Month in the State of Illinois.  On May 9, 2008 United Methodist Children’s Home celebrated its first Annual Foster Parent Appreciation Dinner to show the Adolescent Foster Care Program’s professional foster care parents how much we appreciate the important work they do.  Festivities began with a greeting by the Program Administrator, Mini Hope-Kimble followed by a prayer of thanksgiving by Larry Barbre.  A catered dinner ensued followed by a speech from the Vice-President of Community-Based Programs, Michelle Bradley.  The evening then progressed to the presentation of appreciation awards.  Chosen by nomination, the Foster Parent of the Year, 2008 was awarded to Larry and Lauri Barbre for their unending inspirational support in mentoring, volunteerism and time.  It was an evening to remember!
