The Poshard Foundation announces another $66,000 granted at a press conference that was held on Thursday, July 22nd at John A. Logan College.
United Methodist Children’s Home was one of 27 organizations to receive grants to be used specifically for services directly dealing with the abused, abandoned, and neglected children of our region.
The generosity of those that attended and sponsored the 2009 Poshard Foundation Annual Dinner made these grants possible. “The service organizations take constant financial cuts wounding them as they are tirelessly attempting to heal the physical and emotional scars left on these children. Even with little funds they say to the scared child, ‘We will take care of you.’” said Jo Poshard, Foundation co-founder. “When security, trust, comfort and innocence are taken from a child, southern Illinoisans are there to do what we can to return it. These grants will help facilitate that mission.”
United Methodist Children's Home provides programs and services to help hundreds of youth and their families throughout Southern Illinois. Funding provided by Poshard Foundation will be used to help children in our communities that cannot afford needed counseling through the UMCH Community Connections program.
The Poshard Foundation, founded by Glenn and Jo Poshard, believes that every child deserves a safe person, a safe place, and a safe community. Unfortunately, that is not the reality for many of our children in Southern Illinois. The abused, neglected, and abandoned ones are those the Poshard Foundation seeks to help. Whether it is by providing counseling, cribs, and baby quilts, or by paying for special camps, supplies for college-bound foster children, and training for the prevention of violence against children, the Foundation strives to make a difference in young lives.

Representatives from the 27 agencies recieve grants at Poshard Foundation press conference.
