Spring Celebration 2008

The UMCH 3rd Annual Spring Celebration was held on May 31st.  It was such a great feeling to see the room full of family, friends and staff that were there to honor the successes of our youth in the Residential and Transitional Living Programs.  Our youth have faced so many challenges throughout their lives and continue to face challenges as they address their treatment issues; thus it is so important that we recognize and celebrate their accomplishments.  It was a joy to hear from Emily (a former resident) who shared her experiences since leaving UMCH.  Emily honestly shared that becoming independent has been difficult at times. She also recognized the importance of having supportive adults in her life, even if those adults were outside of her family.  Of particular interest was Emily’s insight into how she has been able to incorporate what she learned in treatment into her everyday life. Emily’s message reinforced what our staff strive to teach our youth on a daily basis.

All of the Quest Students were recognized for their accomplishments and the TLP youth were given certificates of appreciation.  The youth that had recently graduated from junior high and high school were also recognized.  The audience was entertained with the talents of many of our youth.  We have some very talented young people!  The afternoon ended with a BBQ picnic lunch.  What a great event!
