April 26, 2011 - Volunteer Appreciation Dinner

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered at the United Methodist Children's Home in the past year.  We took a moment to show our appreciation on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 for those who volunteered and helped make a difference in the life of a child.

In attendance were mentors, tutors, visiting resources, special event volunteers, board members, and UMCH Friends Auxiliary members.

Several volunteers were honored for devoting time and efforts to the children at UMCH.  Pictured left to right are: Elaine Johnson, Ina Rae Drake, Geni Zibby, Amanda DePew and Theresa Green.

The coveted Volunteer of the Year was awarded to Theresa Green.  Theresa started volunteering last spring, helping Residential youth acheive 4-H status.  She started a raised-bed garden, and the kids were having fun and she was having fun, so they started to meet every Friday through the summer.  Each week Theresa would show them something else about the garden, nature, and animals.  Her love and dedication to the kids have earned her much praise and thanks from youth and staff at UMCH.

Thank you, Theresa, for being a great example to the youth and a great friend to UMCH.  You can read more about the 2011 Garden Club on our website.
