Volunteer Spotlight - Centralia Friends Auxiliary

by Joan Minor

Volunteer and Spiritual Life Coordinator

Since last summer, a group of dedicated volunteers has really focused on serving UMCH programs in Marion County.  Like the Mt. Vernon Friends Auxiliary, which has existed for years, the Centralia Friends Auxiliary has already started to become part of the UMCH family.

One afternoon, the Centralia Friends went over to the YouthBuild site and brought a sandwich picnic along. On another occasion, the Friends held a party for the families served by the Best Beginnings / Nurse-Family Partnership. It was a very cute sight to see all the Friends picking up babies and toddlers and having fellowship with their moms and dads.

Volunteer groups of all kinds can join with UMCH to supplement the services we offer to over 300 children and families in our region. We have had youth groups, entertainment groups, and landscaping groups come and volunteer their time to make our clients feel worthy and special.

Any group can also start a Friends Auxiliary in their own town where UMCH has services. These groups do so much to help out the children and families served by UMCH, and their gifts given out of a loving heart bless every client they come in contact with.

For more information on starting your own UMCH Friends Auxiliary or for more information on how to join the existing Mt. Vernon or Centralia Friends Auxiliaries, please contact Joan Minor at (618) 242-1070 ext. 240 or jminor@umchome.org.
