We Are Thankful

     There has been a lot going on a UMCH over the past few months.  Whew!  Sometimes we are so busy in the day to day hustle and bustle that we forget to slow down and take note of all the things we are thankful for.

     During this time of economic uncertainty, I for one am very thankful for all of you who support our mission and ministry.  Unfortunately during hard times, there is an even higher demand for social services to help those who are in need and struggling to make ends meet. When parents and caregivers face uncertainty and increased stressors at home and in the workplace, children often become victims of abuse and neglect.  We also see an increase in substance abuse, domestic violence and homelessness. UMCH is able to be that beacon of light for those in need because of the support of so many generous people who offer their time, talents and resources to us.

     I am also very thankful for the opportunity to work with the dedicated employees of UMCH who also give of their time, talents and resources.  I recently asked our employees to consider supporting UMCH through our Annual Giving Appeal and set a goal of 50% giving.  I am proud to share with you that as of today, 69% of the employees at UMCH are making monetary contributions to our Foundation.  As many of you know the social service field doesn’t quite compare to the corporate world in respect to compensation.  However, the employees of UMCH recognize the importance of “giving back” and believe that the work they do does provide “healing today for a brighter tomorrow.”  My heartfelt thanks and deep appreciation to our employees!

          Right now, my team is working hard to plan for our 14th Annual Golf Classic which will be held July 17th at Green Hills Golf Club.  This is our major fundraiser and we are planning for it to be our best year yet!  We hope you will come and join us for a day of fun in the sun.  If you are unable to join us, please pray that our event will once again be successful.  Enjoy your summer and thank you again for all you do for UMCH!
