Six participants of our YouthBuild program attended the Adult Education & Literacy Legislative Awareness Day in Springfield.  The group went to the State Capitol building, and although the Senate was in session, they were able to meet briefly with Sen. John O. Jones and do a self-guided tour of the capitol.  The participants were impressed with the architecture of the building and found watching the Senate and lobbyist interesting to say the least. The trip was very educational as most of the group had never been to Springfield or the State Capitol building.  Three participants from our Mt. Vernon campus and three from our Centralia campus attended. Following the Capitol the group went to the new Lincoln Museum, which seemed to be thoroughly enjoyed by all. A special thank you to Kaskaskia College for providing box lunches and the initial suggestion that we attend!
