YouthBuild Graduation - April 14, 2011

A graduation ceremony was held on Thursday, April 14, 2011 for 12 YouthBuild participants.

Rick Marlow, YouthBuild Program Manager, explained that in order to graduate from YouthBuild the participants had to be in the program for at least 6 months, earn their GED (high school equivalency certificate) or PACT certificate (Pre-Apprenticeship Construction Training), have an 85% attendance, and be drug free.

The UMCH YouthBuild program serves 17 to 24 year olds who have not completed high school in Marion and Jefferson Counties.  The participants learn work skills and take GED classes for 6 to 9 months.

Our participants have been working on renovating houses in Mt. Vernon and Centralia.  The houses are almost complete and will be listed for sale in the coming months.

Congratulations YouthBuild graduates!
