May 22, 2008 - YouthBuild Legislative Awareness Day

Six participants of our YouthBuild program attended the Adult Education & Literacy Legislative Awareness Day in Springfield. The group went to the State Capitol building, and although the Senate was in session, they were able to meet briefly with Sen. John O. Jones.    (Continue Reading)

UMCH has partnered with the locally owned Pasta House Co. in Mt. Vernon to offer “UMCH Monday’s in March.”  On every Monday during the month of March, Pasta House will donate 15% of the lunch & dinner proceeds of those patrons that identify themselves as a UMCH supporter.    (Continue Reading)

February 1, 2008 - 2007 UMCH Shining Star of the Year
United Methodist Children’s Home employee Tyrone Harris was voted by his co-workers as the Shining Star for 2007.  Tyrone was one of 10 employees that had been recognized during the year for going “above and beyond” job duties to provide quality service.

January 8, 2008 - The Illinois Great Rivers Alliance, LLC
On November 28, 2007, the Illinois Great Rivers Alliance, LLC (IGRA) was officially formed by 5 United Methodist social service agencies in central and southern Illinois.  The Alliance is governed by representatives of the 5 owner agencies:  United Methodist Children’s Home, The Babyfold, Chaddock, Cunningham Children’s Home and Lessie Bates David Neighborhood House. July 17, 2007 - Golf Tournament Success
UMCH held the 12th Annual Golf Classic on July 13th at Green Hills Golf Club. This year's event was very successful, exceeding the fundraising goal. Participants enjoyed a sunny day of golf that included lunch on the course provided by Kreihbel & Associates and hors devours that were provided by the UMCH Foundation Board of Directors in the 19th hole following the tournament.
